MEET TAMARA – YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Tamara was first introduced to Pilates by her husband after he was prescribed (and enjoyed!) the movement therapy as a way to manage chronic neck pain from an injury. From this initial introduction, a passion for Pilates grew and Tamara has been practicing Pilates for almost 20 years and in her 9th year of teaching.

“I’ve seen the physical benefits from a fitness and toning perspective, using Pilates as my preferred fitness regime in the lead up to my wedding. Joseph Pilates was spot on when he said you’d have a whole new body in 30 sessions! More recently, I’ve also discovered the rehabilitation benefits and enjoy being able to exercise without pain and reducing the risk of re-injury. Pilates time is also a fantastic time out from my busy life, a whole hour just to focus on me – a great stress reliever!”

Like many of us, long hours spent at work in front of a computer took their toll in the way of chronic headaches and Tamara turned to Pilates to retrain her muscles and improve her posture – it worked, with headaches now rare and the realisation of a whole population of people in exactly the same situation.

This ‘lightbulb’ moment led to Tamara searching to take her interest in Pilates to the next level and completing her 52728WA Certificate IV in Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology at Tensegrity Training Studio, here on the Sunshine Coast.

The move away from intimate, small studios to mass fitness classes in the Pilates space led Tamara to consider a space that allowed more personalised attention in a friendly unintimidating space. Her love and gratitude of the coastal lifestyle here on the Sunshine Coast are the inspiration behind her unique, refreshing and beautiful studio space. Class session times are designed around the day for complete convenience.

Classes are a combination of fun and mindfulness, fast-flowing, energetic workouts and purposeful mind body awareness with options provided for injuries, limitations or for those wanting to challenge themselves.

Tamara finds the most rewarding aspects about Pilates instructing include being a part of the students’ journey of improvement and witnessing the effect that a class has on one’s mental well-being, seeing students leaving class refreshed, energised and inspired.
